Winter paragliding
Winter paragliding has its own special charm. The mountain peaks are covered with snow-white and sparkling snow, the rays of the sun are reflected and shimmery, creating the feeling of a fairy tale. Not everyone can boast of seeing what the mountains look like in winter from a height.
You will remember your first paragliding flight all your life, this vivid and emotional impression will always be with you. All sensations will be impossible to describe in words.
Paragliding allows you to look at mountain landscapes and see the world as birds see it. Skillfully using the currents of air, the weight of your own body will open the world to you from a different angle.
If you want to try free soaring on a budget, choose Winter Adventure: 5–7 minutes in the air over the Gudauri ski resort (349 GEL). Launch at 2,750–3,006 m, landing near the gondola lift at about 2,200 m (may vary depending on the weather).
Who you fly with
The entire SkyAtlantida team of professional instructors carries out winter paragliding flights with an instructor in Gudauri.
There is practically no bad weather for us, with rare exceptions. Paragliding flights over the Gudauri mountains in winter take place in the daytime and in sunny weather, this is the only way we can guarantee complete safety for our guests.
Paragliding in tandem with an instructor, for this a special paraglider is used for two, a passenger and a pilot.
The paraglider is piloted by the pilot, who is located at the back, and a stunning view of the winter mountains opens in front of the passenger. Our guest will be seated in a comfortable harness. The passenger does not participate in the management in any way, therefore his hands are not occupied with anything. If desired, he can independently record the entire flight on video or photo.
If the weather is favorable, in addition to the impressive and breathtaking mountain landscapes, you will be able to experience the feeling of free flight and climb, provided that there are updrafts. In this case, you will soar into the air to the very clouds and higher, you will be able to touch the cloud with your hand.
All our instructors have extensive flight experience, constantly undergo a full medical examination and are allowed to fly only after a mandatory examination by a full-time physician.
All our pilots and instructors do not drink or smoke, lead a healthy lifestyle and easily tolerate stress during the flight.

Flight preparation
Be sure to pay attention to the restrictions under which the flight will not take place.
This primarily concerns the weight of the passenger. The maximum passenger weight is 125 kg; surcharges apply from 80 kg (see below).
Next, you will be helped to put on your equipment and tighten the harness to your height and weight. All this will take no more than 5-7 minutes.
Mandatory instruction on how to behave during takeoff and landing. Next, the passenger is hooked to the pilot and the paraglider. The passenger is required to stay on his feet until the last while the paraglider has not soared up. If the passenger sits in the harness earlier than expected before taking off from the ground, then the pilot will experience serious difficulties at the start.
All models of paragliders for flying with instructors (tandem) are developed and designed taking into account the maximum level of safety, primarily for the passenger. Their construction is strong and reliable, they are not subject to collapse in flight, they are maximally loyal to any mistakes during control and will not allow an emergency.
In order to get off the ground, it will be enough to run a little or even take a few steps in the indicated direction at the instructor's command, a lot depends on the strength and direction of the wind. The paraglider silently and softly soars up, the air stream picks it up and lifts it up.
What clothes to choose for a winter paragliding flight
If you are planning a winter flight with a paragliding instructor in Gudauri, you should take care of your clothes in advance. Indeed, in winter at altitude during a flight with strong winds, the temperature and wind are felt in a completely different way. For a winter flight, choose thermal underwear made from natural fabric. A one-piece suit with plenty of zips, buttons and pockets is ideal; it will help protect as much as possible from the cold and piercing wind. Pants and jacket made of waterproof and windproof fabric. It is desirable that the jacket has a hood and a collar, this will serve as additional protection against gusts of wind.
Shoes should be chosen one size larger than what you usually wear. Convenient and practical, in which you are as comfortable as possible.
If you plan to take a photo or video shooting, bring a pair of thin gloves that you will not mind losing.
The hat should be warm and thin at the same time without decorative details that add volume. A protective helmet goes on top of it.
Types of winter paragliding flights in Gudauri
In winter (5 December – 15 April) SkyAtlantida offers five programs: Winter Adventure — 5–7 minutes, 349 GEL; Winter Fairytale — 7–10 minutes, 399 GEL; Aragvi Canyon — 8–15 minutes, 399 GEL; Winter Aerobatics — 6–10 minutes, 499 GEL; Winter VIP Canyon — 15–25 minutes, 599 GEL. Prices are per person per slot.
Depending on what type of flight you have chosen, the launch pad will also differ.
The short programs — Winter Adventure (5–7 minutes) and Winter Fairytale (7–10 minutes) — take place over the slopes of the Gudauri resort. Getting to the winter launch: the ski lift costs 40 GEL per person (2 lifts × 20 GEL), paid on site and not included in the flight price; the gondola usually runs until about 17:00. Meet at Café Bar PILOT in advance; for the last flights — no later than 50 minutes before the gondola closes (gondola until 17:00 → meet by 16:10 at the latest). With enough snow, snowmobile access is possible — 578 GEL to the 2,700 m launch or 838 GEL to the 3,006 m launch (two snowmobiles, about 20 minutes).
Aragvi Canyon (8–15 minutes) opens up the views of the Aragvi river canyon, and the longest winter route is Winter VIP Canyon (15–25 minutes).
For Winter Aerobatics (6–10 minutes) we climb above 3,000 m; this program runs only in sunny weather.
